Entry 01 - A Regular Upbringing
Filed from South Yorkshire - "the beginning"
I’m a Yorkshire lad from a small mining town just outside Sheffield. Went to a regular comprehensive school. Hung around, smoked, skated, played guitar in a cheesy Blink182 cover band, and caused the usual amount of trouble with whichever group of mates I was running with that year.
" Worth Remembering "
We were a proper working class family. My father was a steelworker. My mother had worked in nearly every industry going, cheffing, retail, behind the bar.
Two older siblings who never let me forget I was the youngest. And grandparents you could only dream of. Weekends there meant home made treats and getting our hands dirty growing vegetables with my grandfather.
A pretty average upbringing, I’d say.

In my teenage years I started hustling kettles, toasters, irons and bread makers on the weekend markets with my dad’s mate. Saved up enough for boards, guitars, and, I’ll admit it, my first introduction to drink. That was the era of sneaking into bars pretending to be eighteen, playing cover shows in dingy pubs to school friends and the regular alcoholics who drank there.

My auntie got me a job stacking shelves on the evening shift at Morrisons. Towards the end of school I moved on from there to valeting cars and cleaning at a local garage.
